Description
You’ll leave with a hand-painted mandala you made yourself — no experience needed.
This is a slower kind of afternoon. We begin with breath and presence, write a private letter to the person you’re becoming, and then settle into the quiet, meditative work of building a mandala dot by dot. It’s part mindfulness, part art-making, and entirely yours.
Each participant works on their own mandala base, choosing their own colours and building their design dot by dot. It’s meditative, it’s satisfying, and by the end you’ll have a beautiful, unique piece of art to take home — alongside a letter that will find its way back to you when you least expect it.

How the afternoon flows
Everything is guided, start to finish — you never have to wonder what’s next. The first half settles the mind; the second fills the hands.
We welcome the group and create the container for the afternoon: a short grounding exercise built around breath, body, and presence, and a gentle look at why we slow down on purpose — and what that opens up in us.
A soft, guided meditation. This one isn’t about fixing the present — it’s about feeling into who you’re becoming. Sensory, unhurried, and forward-looking.
You’ll receive a beautiful piece of paper and a few gentle prompts. You write privately, then seal it — to be mailed back to you in six months. Choose the cues that speak to you, such as:
- What are you finally allowing yourself to feel?
- What did you stop waiting for permission to do?
- What does your life feel like now — not look like, feel like?
- What was the one thing you decided you were worth?
- What did you let go of — and how does that lightness feel?
A brief introduction to mandala: what it is, why it’s a meditative practice, and how the act of creating it is itself the point. Then we hand over to Palak.
Guided mandala art with intention. Music, focus, presence — no distractions, no phones, just hands and colour and breath. Working from the centre outward, ring by ring, most people find the repetition surprisingly calming once they settle into the rhythm. As your design takes shape, you’ll set small mirrors into it — a traditional finishing touch that catches the light and gives your mandala real depth and sparkle.
We sit with the finished piece. One word from each person, if they’d like to share. A quiet, intentional ending.
You go home with: your completed mandala, ready to display — and a sealed letter that will land in your mailbox six months from now. 🎉

Most Common Questions
Is this workshop suitable for complete beginners?
Completely. Most participants have never made a mandala or done guided mindfulness before. Every part of the afternoon is led step by step, and both facilitators are with you the whole time. If you can hold a brush and breathe, you can do this.
How is this different from your Dotting Mandala Workshop?
This one pairs the mandala art with a mindfulness experience — grounding, a short guided meditation, and a private letter to your future self — before you ever pick up a brush. It’s a slower, more reflective afternoon. The Dotting Mandala Workshop is focused purely on the art itself.
Do I need any meditation or mindfulness experience?
None at all. The grounding and visualization are gentle, guided, and beginner-friendly. There’s nothing to “get right” — you just follow along.
What is the "letter to your future self"?
During the afternoon you’ll write a private letter using a few gentle prompts, then seal it. We hold onto it and mail it back to you six months later — a small, lovely surprise from a calmer version of today’s you.
Do I need to bring anything?
Nothing. Mandala base, paint, dotting tools, brushes, paper, prompts — everything is included. Just bring yourself (and maybe an open, unhurried frame of mind).
How long is the workshop?
The afternoon runs from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
What age group is this for?
This is an adults-only afternoon — 18 and up.
Are refreshments included?
Yes — we keep it light, with water and biscuits. If you have allergies or dietary needs, let us know when you book.
Can I come with a friend or partner?
Absolutely — it makes a wonderful shared afternoon. You can register multiple spots in one order. Please note pre-registration is required; we don’t accept walk-ins.
Will I have to talk or share in front of the group?
Are spots limited?
Yes — just 10 seats, to keep the group intimate and well-guided. We recommend registering early.
Will I finish my mandala in time?
Yes. The mandala portion is paced so every participant completes their piece within the session, whatever your experience level.
What should I wear?
Something comfortable you don’t mind getting a little paint on. Nothing fancy — this is a relaxed afternoon.
Who leads the workshop?
It’s led by Palak StudioInk in collaboration with Bhumika Bunha, a Personal Growth & Reflection Guide and Life Coach based in Calgary — bringing together mindful facilitation and hands-on mandala art.
